Beach Program
Beach Kinder Program
The 4-year-old beach kinder program is a beautiful addition to the learning environment that already exists at Flinders Preschool.
The beach program encourages children to become immersed in “nature’s playground”. Through child lead play in a beach environment, children experience challenges, developing self-awareness and, most importantly, resilience.
The ever-changing Flinders coast gives our children opportunities to explore a diverse setting that provides opportunities to grow. Children are often observed developing important social skills as they cooperate to solve problems or make new exciting discoveries together.
Parents may notice that the beach program has assisted their child’s self-confidence and adaptability. Many children also express an interest in local flora and fauna after attending the program.
We live in a truly special part of the world. It’s a privilege to explore Flinders with our preschool’s community and watch the children connect with their local place.
.
“Children build independence, set themselves challenges through ‘risk’ play and adapt with the changing conditions found at the beach”
When and Where is beach kinder?
Flinders pre-school’s beach program is run for 5 weeks each term on Wednesdays for the 4yr old group only.
Beach kinder will be held at either the Flinders Ocean Beach or at The Flinders Pier Precinct, parents will be sent a text the night before and on the day confirming where to drop their children.
Aligning with our values of resilience, beach kinder is on no matter what the weather conditions (unless deemed unsafe).
Parent helpers are encouraged to attend our beach program days. For safety reasons we need a specific number of adults per child.
