Music Program
Music Program
Children are naturally drawn to music and dance. Our kinder environment provides opportunities for singing, rhythms and movement to music in our everyday play-based learning.
The benefits of children being exposed to and participating in music include:
- Stimulation for growing brains, including language development
- Interactive and communication skills
- Constructive release of pent up energy and emotions
- Balance, control and coordination skills
- Stress reduction
- Expression
- Creativity and imagination
Parents who have musical skills are encouraged to contact the teachers. We love having different musical special guests show us their instruments.
4 Year Old Group Music Program
The music program becomes more structured for the 4-year-old group with our weekly Music Makers class.
Christine Barren, who has many years of musical teaching experience, presents Music Makers to the children in small groups.
Each child has opportunities to play drums, be part of the “band” and use chime bars. Children learn about beat, rhythm, scale (high and low), percussion instruments, movement and song.
The music class helps children learn listening and cooperation skills. Most importantly, they have fun and move!
Listening to and creating music helps children learn numeracy, literacy and emotional skills.
