Resilience Project
The Resilience Project is implemented in our 4-year-old program and as a whole center approach.
In 2021 Flinders Pre-school was lucky enough to receive department funding to bring the innovative Resilience Project into our 4-year-old program.
Beach kinder is an established and much loved part of our 4-year-old program. Our regular day at the beach encourages children to build independence, set themselves challenges through “risk” play and cope with the changing conditions found in the environment. The new Resilience program will enhance learning both in the kindergarten, at the beach and at home, by facilitating an understanding of emotional literacy and mindfulness.
The Resilience Project helps us to build a child’s ability to manage their emotions when things don’t go as planned.
Featured Outcomes of the Resilience Project include
- Building early learning centre capacity to implement a whole- of-centre approach to wellbeing
- Building resilience in children from an early age
- Developing ability to identify, communicate and manage their emotions and emotions in others
- Helping them to feel happier and improve their overall wellbeing
- Providing young people with the skills and tools to help them thrive at school and in their personal lives
- Strengthening family and early learning centre relationships
- Encouraging families to build positive and strong connections
The pre-school’s staff are developing this as a whole centre approach. Consideration of each child’s individual development needs will play a key role in facilitating the program. Children in the three-year-old program may opt in and out of different activities or modify these to best meet the group’s needs.
